Our beginnings...
Luton Pentecostal Church 1929-2007 Luton Pentecostal Church started in 1929 after a healing crusade in Park Street Luton. After out-growing various sites the Luton Pentecostal Church moved to the old Tin Tabernacle in Gilliam Street, which was a former Methodist Mission. In 1936 the church built a new place to worship which was in Church Street on the site of what is now the University. The population of Luton at this time was 70,000. Eventually the church moved to its present site which used to belong to the Ministry of Pensions and a former Tuberculosis Hospital. The present building was opened in 1958 and was extended as a bookshop in about 1977. Recently the main building has been completely renovated with under-floor heating and double-glazed windows, making the whole place warmer and more welcoming. The church run a full-time School (3-11 yrs) which is usually oversubscribed and have a growing youth-work for high school aged children (Reach the Streetz). This is held every Friday evening 7:30pm - 9:45pm. There is also a Saturday morning club (COGz) from 10:00a.m until 12:00p.m for 5-11 yrs. There are other weekly meetings such as a Mums & Tots group (Rug Rats), Tuesday house groups and two Sunday services meaning the church is in use seven days a week.
